About Methodist churches
Methodism began in eighteenth-century England with John and Charles Wesley and spread through circuit-riding preachers across North America. Methodist churches emphasise God's grace for everyone, personal holiness and practical service, and are organised into regional conferences that appoint pastors to congregations. Services blend hymns and liturgy with preaching and Holy Communion, in a tone that is usually welcoming and unhurried.
