About Church of God churches
Several distinct denominations use the name Church of God; the largest, based in Cleveland, Tennessee and in Anderson, Indiana, both arose in the late nineteenth-century holiness revival. Their churches stress conversion, holy living and, in the Cleveland body, the Pentecostal gifts of the Holy Spirit. Worship is typically warm and expressive, with contemporary music and a strong emphasis on the sermon.
