Anglican and Episcopal churches grew out of the Church of England and share its Book of Common Prayer, a liturgy of scripture readings, set prayers, a sermon and Holy Communion. They are led by bishops in dioceses and range from formal, choral services to relaxed contemporary ones. Anglicans describe their tradition as both catholic and reformed, and most congregations welcome visitors to take part in the service whether or not they are members.
